[FIRESIDE CHAT] Creating Community Engagement in a Digital-First World

Gail Tifford — Chief Brand Officer at WW

(Interviewer) Stacey Widlitz, President of SW Retail Advisors

Tuesday, July 28th at 2:30pm ET

Community has always been a core pillar for WW. But, as COVID-19 forced the country to shelter in place, WW had to reinvent what its community would look like and how it would function in a digital-first world. This session will explore how they rebuilt the WW community online, their digital transformation efforts to make it happen and how they used brand purpose to fuel the entire effort.

Gail Tifford joined WW as Chief Brand Officer in March 2018. In this role, Tifford is responsible for activating the evolution of the WW brand. She oversees global strategy for marketing, content, creative, ecommerce, customer intelligence and consumer products and has been a key leader in the strategy and execution of pivoting from Weight Watchers to WW.

Stacey Widlitz is an investment professional and consumer expert with 20+ years experience analyzing the evolution of retail trends in the US, Europe and Asia. She’s a sell-side Research Managing Director turned entrepreneur, advisor and Founder of SW Retail Advisors, and she’s known for early identification of market disruptors, sector inflection points and unique on the ground perspective in Europe.

[CLOSING KEYNOTE] Lessons Learned and Thoughts for the Future

Jason Goldberg — Chief Commerce Strategy Officer at Publicis

Wednesday, July 29th @ 4:10pm ET

Wrapping up this ecommerce conference, Jason “Retail Geek” Goldberg will outline the key trends shaping retail for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis and in a post-COVID market. The Retail Geek contends that the pandemic hasn’t actually created a set of new dramatic behavior shifts or initiated a spectrum of fundamental marketing changes to retain customers. Rather, he’ll show us how the crisis has simply accelerated (like a time machine) trends and behaviors that would have surfaced over the next 5 years versus 5 months. The three buckets of ecommerce evolution that emerged quicker than anyone ever thought are: (1) customer behavior changes due to shelter-in-place, (2) economic impacts of COVID-19 and their subsequent consequences on shopping behavior and (3) the shift in the competitive landscape between retailers and brands. Goldberg will break this all down and share how this will all shake out on the other side of the crisis.

Goldberg is Chief Commerce Strategy Officer at Publicis and the host of the popular retail and ecommerce podcast, The Jason and Scot Show. His insights presented in this session are based on hundreds of conversations he’s had with retail and omnichannel leaders since the pandemic began.

Jason “Retail Geek” Goldberg is the Chief Commerce Strategy Officer at Publicis Communications and host of iTunes top rated E-Commerce Podcast, the Jason & Scot Show. Under his Twitter handle @retailgeek, he is one of the most followed ecommerce subject matter experts on the web. He is the executive chairman of the NRF Digital Advisory Board and was inducted into the National Retail Federation’s “The List” of people shaping the future of retail.

As we approach the summit, we’ll continue announcing more of our stellar virtual sessions and providing these sneak peeks. Stay tuned and subscribed for updates.
