[CLOSING KEYNOTE] Lessons Learned and Thoughts for the Future

SPEAKER

Jason Goldberg — Chief Commerce Strategy Officer at Publicis

WHEN

Wednesday, July 29th @ 4:10pm ET

SESSION SUMMARY

Wrapping up this ecommerce conference, Jason “Retail Geek” Goldberg will outline the key trends shaping retail for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis and in a post-COVID market. The Retail Geek contends that the pandemic hasn’t actually created a set of new dramatic behavior shifts or initiated a spectrum of fundamental marketing changes to retain customers. Rather, he’ll show us how the crisis has simply accelerated (like a time machine) trends and behaviors that would have surfaced over the next 5 years versus 5 months. The three buckets of ecommerce evolution that emerged quicker than anyone ever thought are: (1) customer behavior changes due to shelter-in-place, (2) economic impacts of COVID-19 and their subsequent consequences on shopping behavior and (3) the shift in the competitive landscape between retailers and brands. Goldberg will break this all down and share how this will all shake out on the other side of the crisis.

Goldberg is Chief Commerce Strategy Officer at Publicis and the host of the popular retail and ecommerce podcast, The Jason and Scot Show. His insights presented in this session are based on hundreds of conversations he’s had with retail and omnichannel leaders since the pandemic began.
