Tom Ward serves as the executive vice president and end-to-end chief operating officer for Sam’s Club. In this role, Tom leads the operations, supply chain and ecommerce teams. This collective team will be focused on the heart of Sam’s Club’s Member Value Proposition, building trust through consistent delivery and world-class execution across all member touchpoints. This includes integrating all the ways we serve our members.
Prior to becoming the end-to-end chief operating officer, Tom served as executive vice president and chief ecommerce officer for Walmart U.S. In this role, he spearheaded the company’s strategy to improve its omni customer value proposition by enhancing all facets of its online business. Under his leadership, the team revamped Walmart’s online platforms – Walmart.com and the Walmart app – to upgrade functionality, including deploying AI to enhance search capabilities and expanding the company’s Marketplace assortment and fulfillment services for sellers. The team increased customer convenience, launching a variety of digital services, and improved delivery options like InHome, Express Delivery and Pharmacy delivery.
Tom started his career at ASDA and has held several roles across the International and U.S. businesses, all with increasingly important scope and responsibility. In 2021, Tom was the recipient of the Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur of the Year award, the company’s highest honor. He holds a first-class degree in Geography from Loughborough University, England, and currently lives in Northwest Arkansas.
